The Communities Delegation of the Global Fund addressed the Board members and representatives of delegations during the 53rd Global Fund Board Meeting with the Position paper on Using Global Fund processes to provide a Direct Funding Mechanism for key populations and criminalized populations.
This is a position paper on the urgent need to establish a direct funding mechanism for key and criminalized populations within the Global Fund processes.
The paper presents a compelling rationale for such a mechanism and outlines concrete recommendations on how existing Global Fund processes can be leveraged to make it a reality. This proposal was presented by the Communities Delegation during the recent Board Meeting as one of the potential tools to safeguard community funding amidst the current funding crisis.
The Communities Delegation strongly encourages to review the recommendations outlined in the position paper and support their promotion and implementation through communications and engagement within Global Fund governance mechanisms.
Please do not hesitate to contact the Delegation’s Focal Point, Maurine Murenga (focalpoint@communitiesdelegation.org), for any questions, feedback, discussions of this document and its advocacy further in detail with Delegation representatives.
